Why the battery matters here. SCE runs NEM 3.0 net billing, which pays about $0.05 for a kilowatt-hour you export but charges up to $0.55 to buy one back at 6pm. Storing your own production instead of selling it adds roughly $1,706 a year on this bill. SGIP storage rebates may also apply in this territory.

How long does a residential solar installation take?
The rooftop work is usually one to two days. The full timeline from signed proposal to Permission to Operate runs four to ten weeks, and the variable is almost always the permitting office and the utility, not the crew. Municipal utilities like LADWP typically take longer than SCE.
Do I need a new electrical panel?
Often, yes, if your home was built before about 1980 or has 100-amp service. We check the panel during the site survey and include any upgrade in the written proposal rather than raising it after you have signed.
What happens to my roof?
We flash every penetration to the roofing manufacturer's spec and warranty our penetrations. If your roof has fewer than about five years of life left, we will tell you to replace it first. Pulling and resetting an array later costs more than doing it in the right order.
