EV Charger Installation in Los Angeles
Charge on your own power, not the grid's peak rate.
A Level 2 charger is the single largest load most homes ever add. Installed alongside solar and storage, it runs on daytime production instead of peak-rate grid power.
How much does a home EV charger installation cost?
How we approach it
Load calculation first
A 48-amp charger on an already-loaded panel is a code violation and a fire risk. We run the calculation before quoting, not after.
Integrated with your solar
Charging scheduled against your production curve means the car fills up on power worth a nickel to export rather than costing peak rate to buy back.
Panel upgrades when needed
If the service cannot carry it, we will say so and price the upgrade. Load management devices are sometimes a cheaper alternative and we will tell you when they are.
Any brand
Tesla Wall Connector, Wallbox, Emporia, ChargePoint, or whatever came with the car. We install and permit them all.
Questions
EV Chargers, answered
Can I charge my EV off my solar panels?
Directly, only while the sun is up. The practical answer for most households is a battery: solar charges it during the day, and the car pulls from it in the evening. Without storage, evening charging comes from the grid at peak rates.
Do I need a permit for an EV charger?
Yes, in every city we serve. California law requires jurisdictions to offer expedited permitting for EV charging stations, so it is usually quick, but it is not optional.
